Our philosophy is to give the customer one stop for all their automotive needs, repaired correctly the first time, every time. We have stayed in business for more than 30 years by making our customer's safety and budget our #1 concern. We pride ourselves on making each new customer a repeat customer for the next 30 years.

SHOP HISTORY


Scholls Ferry Automotive started as a two bay shop on the property of what is now Scholls Ferry Chevron. At that time it was owned and operated by Rhett Partie. In 1988 Rhett contacted Alpenrose about their vacant lot that sat on the corner of 92nd Avenue and Scholls Ferry Road. Rhett agreed to a long-term lease in exchange for Alpenrose building a state of the art five bay automotive shop. This was the beginning of Scholls Ferry Automotive. In 1989 Edwin Villegas, Rhett's manager and lead technician purchased the business from Rhett. Edwin operated Scholls Ferry Automotive until March of 2000 when he sold his business to Todd Grail to move to the warmer climate of California.

Todd Grail owned and operated Scholls Ferry Automotive until January of 2020. During his 20 years of ownership he spent tens of thousands of dollars updating the facility with the finest in computer diagnostic equipment for European, domestic and Asian vehicles, electronic lab scopes and stethoscopes for tracing noises, shorts and mystery problems others cannot find. He upgraded to 10,000lbs racks to lift even the heaviest fleet vehicles and large trucks.

January 1st, 2020 Todd decided less work and more golf was in order. He sold Scholls Ferry Automotive to Kris Weinbender. Kris started at Scholls Ferry Automotive in 1997 as a lube technician and has managed and operated the shop daily since 2001. You will still find Kris at the same service counter he has been at for the last 20 years, greeting customers, ordering parts and providing the quality service you have come to expect from Scholls Ferry Automotive.

Our senior technicians have been with us for 15+ and 20+ years respectively. If you are not aware, this is very uncommon stability in the automotive trade. We respect our clients and employees the same, creating and maintaining long term relationships with both. We pride ourselves on our training program for our junior technicians. Some of our past junior technicians have gone on to work at companies like infiniti, lexus and tesla to name a few.

Scholls Ferry Automotive has been a staple of the Portland automotive scene since 1989. We've spent this time proudly serving the Portland area and have become a valued part of the community. Whether you need general upkeep and maintenance or a complete vehicle overhaul, Scholls Ferry Automotive has been there to provide excellent service and trustworthy advice.

I have been coming here for about 7 years and previously drove a 2007 Hyundai Accent up until March 2022. As a single woman with an economy vehicle, it was such a relief to find a honest shop who didn't pressure me into purchasing things I really didn't need and definitely could not afford. At first I only used them for repairs, but eventually I started using them for routine oil changes and I'm so happy not to have to go to horrible Jiffy Lube and their high pressure sales anymore. They have great communication and provide solid advice, but if I chose not to do something I never felt any pressure or negativity from the mechanics. I recently purchased a Kia Niro and called to make sure they work on hybrids (they do.) Highly recommend!
